The best crayfish traps

I do crayfish research and can have hundreds of traps in the water at a time. These traps are the best I've found. We have to increase the opening diameter a little (we clip some wires and then shove an oar handle through). I've used the vinyl coated traps before and they tend to warp over time so that they no longer create a good seal where the two halves of the trap come together. The one thing that is more difficult with the GEE traps is that they tend to stick together when stacked and it can be hard to get them apart. Otherwise, though, the best I've found

I order six metal minnow traps. On arrival, two of them had bent rims - damaged in shipping by UPS, apparently. I was able to straighten them for normal use, but more care could be used to pack them to avoid rough handling in a cardboard box. Review reflects that packing issue, not quality of the traps, which was what I expected.

The Gee minnow trap has a better closure than those black ones from the box stores. For store bought, the Gee trap is good. I've got it in the water, and it's catching. Memphis net pricing is very good.

I have been using this trap for a while. Workmanship is the best I have seen. I have several traps and EVERY piece easily interchanges with each other. I saw the chance to send the manufacture a email. I had a question on bait. I sent the email and shortly got a call. Not just a return email. It was from Greg, The company owner. He was so nice. Talked with me for quite a while and helped all he could. That is the customer service you don't see much anymore. I will never purchase my traps from anyone else.

Been looking for a Minnow trap like I used 60 years ago when my dad took us fishing. After a lot of searching I found it and its exactly the same, made my day as I am now taking my grandsons fishing and they are using that same trap as I did. Great value for the price. The trap is very solid construction and very easy to bait and use. I bought it to catch goldfish in my outdoor pond which have gotten too numerous. It has worked well. Would order from Memphis Net & Twine again.

Product works as expected. Caught many fish on 1st use. 30 days later product some minor discoloration from tannic brackish water but still works as expected and catches fish every time. The clip that locks the trap closed works great and even has a place to tie your desired line type to. I wish there was a small side door to be able to dump your catch and reset quickly. 4.9 stars...

It's a darn effective trap, but every year they get more expensive and the material gets lighter and thinner. It's almost humorous how paper-thin the material has become when I come across a 5 year old one in the stack and compare them. I generally shove a dowel through the hole to allow larger critters in, but in recent years I've ended up shoving more than a few of the funnel sections right out of the rim. They rim is not crimped as tight as it used to be. Still an easy to work trap with a good design, just make sure you have good clips. Worn ones don't close tight enough to keep the traps from floating open in the chop.
