Hoop Nets

Hoop Nets

Memphis Net & Twine makes superior hoop nets by hand hanging each hoop net. All of our nets are fully hung with the highest quality netting and twine so that they are balanced and effective. Our Hoop nets are tubular shaped nets with a series of hoops,7 per net, tapered and spaced along the length of the net to keep it open.

Quality construction allows the fish to freely swim inside the net and securely trap them inside. Finger style throats are placed on the second and fourth hoops. Our finger style throats are hand tapered and a finger line is tied to each mesh. It takes a lot more time to make throats this way, but you get better catching nets. The throats are longer than the cheap square throats often found on other hoop nets. The special design of our throats makes it easy for fish to swim through but next to impossible to escape.

Hoop Nets are commonly referred to as fyke, barrel or fiddler nets. Fishing hoop nets are one of the most frequently used stationary nets in commercial fishing. To fish a hoop net, the net is staked out in a body of water and the bait is placed in the closed or tail end of the net. The net is then lifted out of the water and the catch is emptied.
